Talkable 2 Visual Message Communicator with Icon Holders

The Talkable 2 lets you record two 10-second messages — one for each of the device’s two buttons. This model works well when you need to choose between two activities or ideas, such as “yes” or “no.” Choose the white model for a different visual contrast.

Talkable 2 & White size: 7½”L x 4½”W x 3″H. Requires 4 AAA Batteries. Weight: ¾ lb.

Talkable 3 Communicator With Icon Holders

If you need to communicate with three ideas, you can choose the Talkable III for an additional option. It has three buttons that correspond to three five-second messages.

Talkable 4 Multiple Message AAC Communicator With 12-Level Option

Thanks to the Talkable 4’s four buttons, you can work with four ideas expressed with four five-second messages. The standard model comes with a single level, or set of messages. To communicate up to 48 messages, choose the 12-level Talkable 4. You can turn the level knob to choose among 12 sets of messages.

Talkable 4 size: 14″L x 5½”W x 2¾”H. Requires 4 AA Batteries. Weight: 1½ lbs.

Usable as a Switch for Adapted Toys and Devices

Every Talkable model includes jacks to operate adaptive devices. They include one jack per button, letting you assign a device to each button. When you connect your Talkable to adaptive devices, the messages play at the same time as the device activates. This feature allows you to provide immediate reinforcement. It makes devices like the Talkable 4 multiple message AAC communicator easier to use for people with visual impairments.

Who Can Use Talkables?

People with disabilities, their family members, their loved ones, their teachers and their speech therapists can use Talkables for communication. These devices can suit a wide range of communication needs thanks to their scalability. Choose a Talkable with fewer buttons to express simple messages, or invest in the 12-level model for more complex communication. The Talkables series can grow with the user as they learn communication skills.

Questions and answers of the customers

  1. Q I have a few questions regarding your Talkables 4 with Built-in Icon Holders and 12 Levels, SKU: 2403. What is the diameter of the 4 buttons? What is the total length of the built-in icon holder? This measurement will help me determine what size of icon symbols can fit in the holder, when using all 4 side by side.
Asked by Toni on August 10, 2020 9:46 am
A The buttons are a 2½” activation surface and the icon holder strips in the back will hold up to a 3 x 3 icon.
  2. Q How much force is needed for activation?
Asked by Anonymous user on April 23, 2020 10:00 pm

  5. Q How do built-in icon holders work? Velcro?
Asked by Anonymous user on September 19, 2018 10:41 am
A Icons or pictures can be placed under the removable clear covers, or using the icon/picture holders in the back of the communicator. The icon/picture holders use a plastic compression tab that keeps pressure on your icons/pictures to keep them in place.

  6. Q Why won’t my talkable record?
Asked by Anonymous user on September 16, 2018 9:05 pm
A How to Record: To record, first press and hold the red “RECORD” button press down one of the colored plates. While continuing to hold the plate down, speak your message. Release both when you finish recording. Record on the other plate in the same manner. Problem: The unit fails to operate, or operates incorrectly. Action #1: Make sure there is no dirt or obstacles between the plates and the housing of the unit. Action #2: Disconnect the power by removing one of the batteries for 20 seconds in order to reset the unit. Re-install the batteries. If the unit does not work correctly, replace all the batteries with alkaline batteries only (e.g. Duracell or Energizer brand). Do not use rechargeable batteries or any other type of batteries because they supply lower voltage and the unit will not perform properly. If these steps do not resolve your issue please contact our Tech Dept. at 1-800-832-8697 Ext. 320.
  7. Q Do the textured tops fit on this device also? I cannot find the size of the buttons on this device.
Asked by Anonymous user on June 4, 2018 3:40 pm
A Yes that is why the item #3821 Textured Tops for Gumballs is listed as an accessory. The size of the Gumball tops is 2 1/2 inches.
  8. Q How many seconds of record time for each button?
Asked by Anonymous user on May 8, 2018 4:43 pm
